US Head of Marketing

Summary Description
The US Head of Marketing is the most senior marketing position in the US organization and is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all of the organization’s marketing strategies and tactics. The successful candidate will oversee the development and implementation of the marketing plan and will coordinate at the strategic and tactical levels with other internal functions. The position reports to the VP, Global Commercial.

Responsibilities – Core:

  • Oversee the marketing of two travel vaccines: Vaxchora (oral cholera) and Vivotif (oral typhoid)
  • Manage the US marketing team, providing functional oversight as well as developing the team’s marketing abilities
  • Lead the strategic and tactical planning process for the US side of the business
  • Ensure complete and timely implementation of all aspects of the of the tactical marketing plan by utilizing excellent knowledge of market and methodology to ensure timely development of the US launch plan and strategic marketing plan for Vaxchora
  • Develop superior customer-focused and innovative initiatives to maximize product sales
  • Monitor and control brand budgets, forecasts and expenses and assess the marketing mix of assigned products to evaluate cost effectiveness and results
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and threats in the US market for Vivotif and Vaxchora and propose appropriate measures
  • Collaborate closely with sales, medical affairs, finance and other functions to implement marketing initiatives
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions

Responsibilities – Other:

  • Manage the post launch process as it relates to Vaxchora
  • Enhance the PaxVax image in the eyes of its customers
  • Act within Ethics and Compliance policies; report any and all medical or product complaints, or adverse events to PaxVax
  • Maintain research database by identifying and assembling marketing information
  • Provide marketing information by answering questions and requests
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; review professional publications; establish personal networks; participate in professional networks
  • Oversee all vendor relationships and management


  • BA/BS in a life science or business discipline is required
  • Advanced degree such as an MBA with a focus in marketing or equivalent experience is desirable
  • Minimum 10 years of healthcare experience required including at least 5 years of healthcare marketing experience.  Sales, sales management and/ or market research experience is desirable.
  • Previous direct people management experience is required
  • Experience in the commercialization of vaccines is a plus
  • Significant marketing and/or strategic expertise, gained through proven track record of successful marketing is essential to success in this role

  • Excellent collaboration skills with a desire to bring out the best in others
  • Passion for results and ability to navigate ambiguity
  • ~25% travel required
