This is a newly created role that will be based at in San Diego, California to support our growth and be responsible for supporting a talented and dedicated employee group of 85+, consisting of R&D, Technical Operations, Quality, G&A and Regulatory Affairs. The ideal candidate has broad experience as an HR Generalist and will take on responsibilities that will include employee relations, talent acquisition/recruiting, talent development and engagement, culture building, leading through change, performance management, compensation, HR analytics, and partnering on HR Operations, as well as other strategic projects to further build and enhance the People & Organizational Development team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Work with hiring managers to manage full-cycle talent acquisition/recruiting process with the goal to recruit, select and onboard top talent
  • Provide consultative and coaching support to managers and employees for development, talent management, performance coaching and other questions and concerns
  • Manage delivery of HR services in the form of talent development and engagement, organizational effectiveness, leading through change, employee relations, and performance management
  • Identify, develop, and conduct learning & development programs
  • Maintain knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees and manage compliance-related projects to ensure consistent interpretation and application of policies through effective communication, advice, and direction to employees and managers
  • Partner with the People & Organizational Development team to analyze key metrics and trends to develop effective solutions, programs and policies
  • Participate in projects, including performance feedback, compensation review and analysis, talent review, organizational expansion, and other key initiatives aligned with the business strategy
  • Work closely with the team and across functions to improve work relationships, boost morale, model our values and help build a culture with a focus on collaboration, learning, strategic and conceptual thinking, and passion for results
  • Collaborate with and support mentoring of Office Manager and other team members
Qualification Requirements: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant course of study; PHR preferred
  • 4+ years of relevant HR/People & Organizational Development experience preferably with experience in the life sciences industry
  • Self-motivated professional with demonstrated reasoning abilities, sound judgment and good attention to detail
  • Nimble and solution-oriented attitude with hands-on and strategic approach and ability to adapt to changing business priorities and thrive in fast-paced environment
  • Experience and success in working with employees and managers across functions
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and maintain an exceptional customer service focus
  • Resourceful and well organized
  • Collaborative and inclusive style – advocate of working as a team player, good player-coach, not afraid to roll up sleeves
  • Results-oriented management of a broad range of HR issues and multiple projects
  • Professional knowledge of employment law
  • Experience in functional components of human resources including:  talent acquisition and development, employee engagement, employee relations, compensation, and HR operations
  • Ability to travel is preferred
