Our Mission…
To develop and commercialize innovative and socially responsible vaccines against infectious diseases to improve global health.
PaxVax Vision
Our primary goal is to transform the vaccine industry with revolutionary new platforms to meet the growing global demand for protection against infectious diseases. We specifically target diseases that currently lack effective or affordable vaccines. Our clinical stage portfolio includes vaccines for cholera, avian influenza (H5N1), anthrax and HIV. We are conducting early stage research and development for vaccines against seasonal influenza, polio, malaria, tuberculosis, shigella and human papilloma virus (HPV).
PaxVax has built a proprietary technology platform based on adenovirus serotype 4 (Ad4), which enables the rapid development of oral vaccines that can target any protein antigen. With this new technology we are able to meet the World Health Organization’s “ideal vaccine” criteria. Such vaccines must be “safe and effective,” and meet the following criteria:
- Single dose
- Rapid onset of immunity
- Broad, long-lasting immunity
- No need for refrigeration
- Oral
- Affordable
- Available to billions
Multi-tiered Strategy
Though global protection against infectious disease is our long-term goal, we are also working to commercialize vaccines for two specialized markets in the United States. The first of these markets is traveler’s vaccines, starting with cholera. The second market is biodefense, with vaccines against pandemic avian influenza and anthrax for the United States National Stockpile.
Unlike other traditional biotech companies, our all-disposable manufacturing methods allow for inexpensive and ultimately scalable factories to be built in a variety of locations. Because our products have the potential to be stable at room temperature, we may be able to operate outside of the “cold chain” to enable delivery of vaccines to those who need them around the world.
Our Double Bottom Line
PaxVax is a double bottom line company, focusing on both financial and social returns. We are developing vaccines both for people living in the developing world, as well as for travelers to the developing world. We strive to meet global needs responsibly, profitably, and ethically. The Company’s investors support the pursuit of both financial and social returns: to do well by doing good.
